A general cargo ship reported to be aground near Brough. Marine Traffic, a website that tracks the status of ships, said the current navigation status of the vessel was “aground” in the North Sea.

According to the website, the vessel is a general cargo ship that is currently sailing under the flag of the Netherlands.

UK’s Humber Rescue was first alerted to the ship being aground at 21:08 on March 2.

On Sunday evening, Humber Rescue crew were paged to reports of a vessel aground within the vicinity of Brough. Despite efforts, the vessel could not be refloated.

“Launching with a crew of four, we worked alongside John Dean in an attempt to re-float the vessel. Unfortunately, this was unsuccessful, and the crew were stood down, returning to the boathouse to await further instructions,” Humber Rescue said in a social media post on Facebook.

After coordination with HM Coastguard Humber, a second attempt was made early Monday morning at 07:00 with the assistance of three tugs. Despite efforts, the vessel remained grounded.

Later that evening, at approximately 18:00, Humber Rescue launched a third attempt, but it was also unsuccessful.

Humber Rescue, an independent charity established in 1989, provides rapid search and rescue operations across the Humber Estuary, encompassing 540 square kilometers of waterways including the Rivers Hull, Trent, Ouse and the Humber Itself.
