Indonesia-flagged cargo ship suffers slight list to starboard

On August 11, the 73-meter-long general cargo vessel Maju 88 (IMO: 8661082) became disabled off Indramayu, Indonesia, when it suffered a slight list to starboard.

The Indonesia-flagged Maju 88 was en route from Panjang to Tuban, Indonesia when it experienced an ingress of water in a position north of Indramayu, Indonesia on 11 August 2024, according to reports from claims specialist WK Webster.

It is reported that the vessel developed a list of approximately 45 degrees to starboard because of the water ingress.

The claims specialist WK Webster said that as a result of this incident the crew were evacuated from the vessel.

Furthermore, it recommends its clients to contact them if they are concerned with any cargo stowed on board this vessel, so immediately steps to be taken for the protection of the client’s interests.

It also highlights that possible general average/salvage and recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.
