The crew members of the ship MV ISA STAR have been rescued after sending a distress call, the EU military operation Eunavfor Aspides said yesterday.

On December 5, the MV ISA STAR sent a distress call, reporting flooding in the engine room and announcing their intention to abandon ship, Aspides reported with a social media post on X (former twitter).

Following a request from the master, a rescue operation was launched by Aspides, and a ship was dispatched to assist.

All crew members aboard the MV ISA STAR have been rescued, Eunavfor Aspides said, and will be transported to Djibouti, the nearest safe port of call.

Details on the current condition of the vessel are not immediately available.

“The lives of seafarers and the principle of freedom on the high seas are non-negotiable values, and their protection remains a key objective of Eunavfor Aspides,” the statement reads.
