Yemen’s Houthis appear to have hit another merchant vessel in a multiple-attempt attack, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
UKMTO has received a report from an unnamed vessel about 64 nautical miles northwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen.
The captain reported that there were four splashes sighted in close proximity to the vessel, but the vessel was undamaged and the crew were safe. The ship continued onwards toward its next port of call.
In a new update UKMTO said the master reported that the vessel had been hit by an uncrewed surface vessel. The number 6 port ballast tank has been punctured, the master said, adding that the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
In a new security report UKMTO also reported an incident 97 nautical miles northwest of Al Hudayah, Yemen. As informed, the vessel was attacked by a missile and sustained damage. All crew are reported safe, and authorities are investigating.
The spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, Yahya Sare’e, said in a prerecorded video earlier Tuesday that the Yemeni Armed Forces targeted the oil tanker Cordelia Moon in the Red Sea.
The Panama-flagged crude oil tanker has been struck with eight ballistic and winged missiles, a drone and uncrewed surface boat, Saree added.
While the crew on board Cordelia Moon are reported to be safe, the operation resulted in the ship being damaged.
