A container ship and a dry cargo vessel collided in Bosporus’ south entrance, Ahırkapı.
With the work initiated by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, the ships were safely anchored at Ahırkapı Anchorage Area. The Coast Guard teams visited the area. A 126-meter-long container named Burhan Dizman, and a 147-meter-long dry cargo ship named Turan C collided in Ahırkapı.
The Burhan Dizman ship is under the Barbados flag, while the TURAN C is under the Liberia flag.
Two pilots were promptly dispatched to the scene by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, with the Rescue tugboat, and a fast rescue boat to rescue the ships.
In the statement made by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, it is mentioned that “The ships in conflict were safely anchored in Ahırkapı, accompanied by our 2 Pilots, our RESCUE-2 and RESCUE-10 tugboats, and our KEGM-3 fast rescue (life-saving) boat, under the coordination of our Istanbul Ship Traffic Services Center”.
