Japanese shipowner Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) declares that it has decided to use JGreeX, a green-steel product, manufactured by the Japan-based steelmaker JFE Steel Corporation (JFE Steel), for the ultramax bulker to be built by Imabari Shipbuilding and completed in 2026.
The shipowner states that JGreeX is a green steel that significantly reduces CO2 emissions in its manufacturing process, and that this newbuild ultramax bulker will be the world’s largest vessel using only green steel.
