Norway´s shipping software and consultancy house UniSea has agreed to buy Maindeck AS, a fast-growing startup known for its innovative project management software for dry-docking.
The Skudeneshavn-based operation has said that with this new acquisition the company is taking an important step towards its goal of delivering a complete operational software suite for the maritime industry.
UniSea added that dry-docking is one of the most costly and important projects for a ship manager, an easy to use and an effective software tool that can help “deliver big savings.”
The company has delivered since 1997 market-leading HSEQ and operation support software, in addition to IT services, to a large number of vessels and shipping companies.
Its portfolio includes modules for procedures and manuals, checklists, incident reporting, PTW, audits and findings, Risk/SJA, ISPS, 14001, fuel reporting, daily reports, and more.
Although its main office is in the beautiful town of Skudeneshavn on the west coast of Norway, with a branch office in Bergen, UniSea has now also a presence in Oslo with the addition of Maindeck.
Kurt Roar Vilhelmsen, chief executive of UniSea commented: “We are set to launch our most ambitious new software module, UniSea Maintenance, in the first half of 2024. We are confident that this will strengthen our offering, as we work to help shipping companies digitalize their business processes.”
He adds that Maindeck and the future product strategy of Unisea “are a perfect match.”
Sasan Mameghani, chief executive and founder of Maindeck is excited to see the Maindeck product and team joining UniSea.
“I’m very proud of where Maindeck has reached. Partnering with UniSea, known for its innovation in maritime software and its clear vision for the future, makes me even more excited about what lies ahead. Integrating with their robust Maintenance module and leveraging the capabilities of a larger software group means that Maindeck’s strengths will be further highlighted. Most importantly, our customers will benefit significantly from this new chapter,” Sasan Mameghani pointed out.
