Damen Shipyards has announced that one of the vessels it has constructed can be seen on millions of banknotes in the African country of Gambia.
The 10 Dalasis note, issued by the Central Bank of Gambia, shows the Damen built Road Ferry 5212 Kunta Kinteh, which was delivered to the African country in 2017. This ferry operates between Banjul, the capital of Gambia, and the river mouth estuary.
The Kunta Kinteh plays an important role in Gambian logistics and Damen Shipyards says that is delighted to see this ferry getting such recognition from Gambia.
The ferry was built entirely in the Netherlands to a very tight deadline, with the hull constructed at Damen’s subsidiary Niron Staal in just 70 days.
Damen is a family owned business, based in Gorinchem, Netherlands, that provide maritime solutions through design, shipbuilding, ship repair and related services.
