Cargo ship missing since tropical storm Kristine hit

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) stated that it is intensifying its search and rescue efforts for the missing cargo vessel M/V Sta. Monica in the waters between Taytay, Palawan, and Paluan, Occidental Mindoro.

The MV Sta. Monica-A1 was heading to Casian, Taytay, Palawan, seeking shelter from bad weather on October 22. It was reported unreachable by the clearing officer on October 27, PCG said, and attempts to contact its 10-member crew, including the captain, have failed.

Despite increased patrols by the Coast Guard District in Palawan, the vessel remains unlocated.

The Coast Guard also conducted an aerial search to the east of Taytay and from San Jose to Paluan, in an effort to locate further signs of the missing vessel.

However, these efforts have yet to yield results, the PCG said in its statement.

PCG informed that it will continue its efforts to locate the ship.
