The flag registry for Liberia, the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR), has introduced a database, which aims to keep flag registries informed and up-to-date with vessels’ backgrounds and any sanctions issues.
Named the Registry Information Sharing Compact (RISC), the system is a free online tool.
The Registry Information Sharing Compact (RISC) database initiative was officially unveiled by the registry’s chief executive officer, Alfonso Castillero.
Alfonso Castillero, CEO of the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR), spoke at the launch of the Registry Information Sharing Compact (RISC) database at the U.S. Department of State.
According to Mr. Castillero, this is a groundbreaking platform for flag registries to share and access vessel history and sanctions-related information.
Backed by the US Department of State and global embassies, this free online resource boosts collaboration and helps registries identify and mitigate risks from problematic vessels.
As it is reported, this is a “groundbreaking tool that will allow each member state to take independent sovereign decisions with better faster and more accurate information.”
Alfonso Castillero, LISCR chief executive, said: “The RISC database is a major step forward in securing global shipping and enhancing compliance. We’re strengthening our defenses and working together to uphold the highest standards.”
“The RISC marks a significant advancement in our collective efforts to maintain the integrity and security of global shipping. With this platform we are strengthening our defenses and working together to uphold the highest standards of compliance and safety,” he added.
