Two men are suspected of using underwater scooters to retrieve hundreds of kilos of cocaine from a ship in Uddevalla harbour, in Sweden. Three people in total are now being charged with smuggling.
In Uddevalla, the smugglers are suspected of having picked up a total of 240 kilos of cocaine that allegedly had been attached to the ship in mid-June 2025.
Two men and a truck driver are now being charged with drug smuggling and serious drug offenses.
The Swedish Customs launched an extensive investigation into the men’s actions leading up to the arrest in Ljungskile, Sweden.
According to GPS data, two of the accused men travelled in a rented camper van from the port city of Huelva in southwestern Spain in mid-May.
During the trip, they visited several areas where the ship in question was at the time, including Brunsbüttel in Germany and Riga in Latvia, and finally in Uddevalla where the ship docked on June 12.
Mobile connections show that they have been in the vicinity several times in all the cities that the ship was docked. There has been activity in all places during the nights.
A search operation was launched in June, which ultimately led to 170 kilos of cocaine – worth over 160 million kronor – being found in two vehicles in Ljungskile.
It later emerged that the suspected smugglers had visited a diving shop in Gothenburg where they, together with two unknown men, bought diving equipment.
They have also bought moving boxes, work gloves, a knife and a tape in Uddevalla, during their time in Sweden.
In accordance with the customs office, the drugs had probably been retrieved from the ship’s hull with the help of the divers.
