Paris-based expert in inspection, certification, and laboratory testing services Bureau Veritas called off talks with SGS over a potential business combination. To remind, Geneva-based SGS is a testing, inspection and certification company.
The two sides said on January 15 that they were in discussions over a potential business combination.
At the time the two companies gave few details about the talks, and said there was no guarantee of a deal.
“Bureau Veritas will not comment further and will only communicate in due course, if and when applicable,” the French player stated.
“There can be no assurance that these discussions will result in a transaction or other agreement,” SGS added.
On Monday, the class society said that “these discussions have stopped and did not result in an agreement despite a strong belief in the value of consolidation in the testing, inspection and certification sector.”
SGS operates a network of over 2,700 laboratories and business facilities across 119 countries, supported by a team of 99,250 professionals.
