Inspection Firms Bureau Veritas, SGS In Talks to Combine

Paris-based expert in inspection, certification, and laboratory testing services Bureau Veritas has confirmed it is in talks with SGS over a potential business combination. To remind, Geneva-based SGS is a testing, inspection and certification company.

“Following recent media commentary, Bureau Veritas indicates that it is in discussions with SGS regarding a potential business combination,” the French player said in a statement on Wednesday.

However, the company clarified that “there can be no assurance that these discussions will result in a transaction or other agreement.”

“Bureau Veritas will not comment further and will only communicate in due course, if and when applicable,” it stated.

Bureau Veritas’ statement comes after recent media reports, which claimed that SGS is in talks to combine with Bureau Veritas.

The two companies gave few details on Wednesday about the talks, and said there was no guarantee of a deal.

SGS also confirmed that it is in discussions with Bureau Veritas regarding a potential business combination, but it said that it will not comment further.

“There can be no assurance that these discussions will result in a transaction or other agreement,” SGS added.

SGS operates a network of over 2,700 laboratories and business facilities across 119 countries, supported by a team of 99,250 professionals.
