Korean Register welcomes Lee Yongsok as new chairman and CEO

Lee Yongsok has been appointed as the 26th chairman and chief executive officer of the Korean Register (KR).

According to KR, Lee is a graduate of the department of marine engineering at Korea Maritime & Ocean University.

He joined the Korean Register in 1995, and since that time he held positions including general manager of the Copenhagen branch office and general manager of the domestic business development team.

Since 2020, Lee has served as head of the business division.

Commenting on his appointment, Lee stated, “I feel a great sense of responsibility as I assume the position of chairman of KR at a critical juncture when the maritime industry is undergoing structural changes driven by decarbonization and digital transformation. I will further strengthen KR’s role and responsibilities through leadership based on open communication and dedicate myself to the sustainable development of the maritime industry.”

His term as the 26th chairman runs from December 23, 2025, to December 22, 2028.
