Maersk to sell Maersk Training in deal with OpenGate Capital

Danish shipping giant A.P. Moller – Maersk has entered into an agreement to sell Maersk Training and Maersk H2S Safety Services.

New York and Paris-headquartered OpenGate Capital, a global private equity firm, will acquire the businesses.

Until the transaction closes, expected later in 2026, Maersk Training continues to operate as part of A.P. Moller – Maersk.

Maersk said employees, customers, and partners should expect business to continue as usual during the transition period.

Under its new ownership, the business will focus on training, gas detection, safety and workforce competency solutions.

Maersk Training, a subsidiary of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, has provided for more than four decades specialised training, competence development and safety services to industries including energy, maritime, renewables and logistics, supporting customers in managing operational risk and workforce safety.

Maersk H2S Safety Services is a subsidiary of Maersk Training. It is a global provider of gas detection and safety services in off- and onshore energy industries.

“This is an important milestone for Maersk Training,” said David Skov, chief executive officer of Maersk Training.

“The agreement recognises the strong business we have built together over the past 40+ years,” added Skov.

“While many of us are proud of our Maersk heritage, we are equally excited about the opportunities this next chapter brings,” he continued.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
