Ukraine unveiled earlier this year a new model of its Sea Baby drone funded by Ukrainians. The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) demonstrated the first maritime drone manufactured due to donations from volunteers.

Almost UAH 300m was raised in record time for 35 SSU’s Sea Baby maritime drones thanks to Ukrainian businesses, international donors and Ukrainians.

The first model in this batch, which the SSU showed during testing earlier this year, was named Avdiivka. It differs from the previous generation, in appearance as well.

The Sea Baby, produced in 2024, is a new generation drone that has been improved and as SSU says it is “even more deadly.”

As it is reported by SSU, the new Sea Baby 2024 has upgraded technical characteristics, greater combat power and manoeuvrability.

It can deliver almost a ton of explosives over a distance of over a thousand kilometres. The SSU designed this drone as a universal platform that can carry various weapons.

Over the past few days, Ukraine has experienced a series of intense Russian attacks including the port infrastructure strike in Odesa region, and a ballistic missile struck in a civilian ship in Pivdennyi seaport.

In the last 24 hours, Russia has deployed two missile carriers in the Black Sea, according to the Ukrainian General Staff.

As it is furthermore reported, there are no Russian ships in the Sea of Azov, whilst in the Mediterranean Sea there are three vessels.

Ukraine also accused Russia that another ship was struck by a missile on Sunday. On October 6, Russian ballistic missile struck a civilian ship in Pivdennyi seaport, in accordance with the deputy prime minister for restoration of Ukraine, minister for communities and territories development of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba.

The ballistic missile hit the ship, loaded with 6K tons of Ukrainian corn. It was the 20th civilian vessel damaged by Russians. “Russia is a threat to global food security,” Kuleba said earlier this week.

Last week Russia reportedly attacked the port infrastructure of Odesa region. Two people were injured, whilst the work of the checkpoint had been temporarily suspended, according to reports from the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.

The ministry claimed on October 2 that as a result of the attack two truck drivers were injured, and both were provided with the necessary assistance.
