The Japanese shipping group Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has completed the merger of the MOL group’s six ship management companies into MOL Global Ship Management (MOLGSM), creating a unified management structure covering more than 200 vessels across the group.
This integration aims to accelerate the implementation of safety measures across all vessel types, promote a unified safety culture, facilitate knowledge sharing, and foster globally capable talent.
The merger will also centralize safety and quality data and strengthen specialist capabilities across the organization, to respond to changes in the business environment, including geopolitical risks and increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
Furthermore, MOL Global Ship Management will work to standardize and optimize operations through technologies such as AI and data analytics to enable rapid and advanced decision-making.
The company said the unified management structure will also help ensure the safe implementation of alternative-fuel vessels and other emerging technologies.
The six companies consolidated under MOLGSM are MOL LNG Ship Management Pte. Ltd. (Singapore, Hong Kong, India), MOL SHIP MANAGEMENT (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. (Singapore), MOL TANKSHIP MANAGEMENT PTE. LTD. (Singapore, London), MOL LNG Transport Co., Ltd. (Japan), MOL SHIP MANAGEMENT CO., LTD. (Japan) and MOL LNG TRANSPORT (EUROPE) LTD. (U.K.).
