Oldendorf-headquartered shipowner and operator Navalis Group has taken a 50% stake in Dalaro Shipping AB, a renowned shipping company known for its liner service for forest products from Northern Europe to North Africa, according to Dalaro Shipping, Navalis Shipping and Oslo Bulk.
The companies said the transaction will enable the partners to leverage their strengths to better serve customers in key markets.
Oslo Bulk, which sold the 50% of its stake in Dalaro Shipping to the Navalis Group, remains a committed partner in the business.
Oslo Bulk is a private Norwegian fully integrated ship owning company. Its commercial operation is handled by Dalaro in Europe and by Oslo Caribbean Carrier AS in the US Gulf/Caribbean.
On the other hand, Navalis Shipping is a ship owner and ship operator, mainly focussing on small and mid-sized bulk traffic in the Baltic and North Sea, with a fleet of ice-classed vessels.
The partners now believe that with this acquisition the two companies will have a larger tonnage base and be able to offer more diverse contracts.
“I have been working with Navalis since 2012 as tonnage provider and I am very happy to have them as new shareholders. I expect this partnership to bring synergies to both Dalaro and our customers,” said Rickard Svenson, CEO of Dalaro Shipping.
The acquisition is expected to close by end of the year, following customary regulatory approvals.
There will be no personnel changes with an increased collaboration on a day-to-day basis.
“This new partnership reflects our long collaboration with Rickard Svenson and his team,” noted Simon tom Wörden, Managing Director of Navalis Shipping. “Together with Dalaro Shipping and Oslo Bulk, we’re confident that our companies are well prepared to service their customers’ needs even better in the future.”
“Oslo Bulk bought Dalaro 2017, during these seven years Dalaro has more than doubled its cargo volumes and number of ships. We are excited to welcome Navalis as new partners and we look forward to jointly further develop Dalaro,” stated Alf Andersen, CEO of Oslo Bulk.
