The US coast guard will offload approximately 37,256 pounds of cocaine with an estimated value of $275m in San Diego.
The coast guard launched an operation yesterday, February 13, with the crew assistance of the coast guard cutter Waesche (WMSL 751) to offload the drugs.
The offload is a result of 11 separate suspected drug smuggling vessel interdictions or events off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America by the coast guard cutter Waesche in December through February.
According to the US coast guard, the cutter Waesche is one of four legend-class national security cutters, homeported in Alameda, California.
