The Chinese shipbuilder New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. in China signed on April 23 with the Danish-based shipowner M.H. Simonsen Aps (Simonsen) a shipbuilding contract for the construction project of eight 6,800-ton duplex stainless steel electric propulsion methanol dual-fuel chemical tankers.
The type of ship is an IMO II chemical tanker, equipped with 14 duplex stainless-steel tanks, and the ships meets the low carbon emission requirements of the International Maritime Organization.
No financial details of this shipbuilding contract were revealed by the parties involved.
M.H. Simonsen Aps was founded 1931 by Martin Hjorth Simonsen and is a family-owned shipowner located in Svendborg.
