Finland’s shipping firm Godby Shipping Ab (Godby), based in Mariehamn – Åland Islands, has completed the purchase of the RoRo vessel Transporter from Eckerö Shipping, also based in Mariehamn.
The newly acquired vessel, which will keep its name, is the sister vessel of Aurora.
The RoRo Transporter is currently on time charter to Denmark’s DFDS in their liner trade between Fredrikstad and Halden (Norway), Zeebrugge (Belgium), and Immingham (UK). She will continue the time charter to DFDS until the end of December 2026, with further options.
With the delivery of Transporter, the fleet of Godby is now consisting of eight vessels, strengthening the company’s position as a tonnage provider in the smaller segment of the RoRo market.
The RoRo Transporter, built in 1991, has a cargo capacity of approximate 1,250 lane meters for cargoes of paper, trailers, mafis, trucks, and heavy machinery.
