Norway’s MPC Container Ships entered into an agreement in August to sell the 2008-built vessel, AS Fatima, to an unrelated party for $11.8m, the company reported in its second quarter financial results. Meanwhile the company has made a significant progress with the fleet renewal and optimization strategy during the second quarter.

The owner didn’t disclose the name of the buyer but revealed that the sale of the vessel is expected to be completed in late 2024.

During this month the company also sealed a deal to sell AS Paola for $20.6m to an unrelated party.

The sale of the ship is expected to be completed in late 2024.

In June the owner with a fleet portfolio of more than 50 vessels completed the sale of the 2007-built AS Nadia and 2009-built AS Ragna collectively for $25.5m.

Also, in February the company agreed to sell its 2006-built vessel AS Clarita for $10.3m. The vessel was delivered in July 2024.

In the previous month the company reported that it took delivery of the last 5,500 teu eco-design vessel, Colorado, from Korean-based shipyard HJ Shipbuilding and Construction. The vessel is chartered to ZIM for a 7-year period from the date of delivery.

In May the group took also delivery of its first 5,500 teu eco-design vessel Mackenzie from the shipyard HJ Shipbuilding and Construction. The vessel is chartered to ZIM for a 7-year period from the date of delivery.

The shipowner agreed in June to purchase the 2009-built AS Nuria and AS Nara for $22.4m and $24.9m respectively. The delivery of the vessels was completed in July and August.
