Oman: Asyad Shipping’s VLCC Qurayyat delivered after acquisition

Oman-based Asyad Shipping Company SAOG has sealed an agreement to dispose one of its vessels.

Announcing the sale of the vessel, Asyad Shipping Company SAOG said in a filing to the Muscat Stock Exchange: “Asyad Shipping Company S.A.O.G is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to sell its vessel Saiq on 11 December 2025, that was built by the company in 2011, which currently forms part of its VLCC fleet for OMR 23 million (US$60 million).”

The 299,999-dwt vessel built in 2011 is expected to be delivered to the new owner during the first quarter of 2026.

The proceeds from the transaction are expected to be received upon successful delivery of the vessel, Asyad Shipping said, and the company will notify the market upon completion.

In addition, as part of its strategy to maintain a young fleet and efficient operations, the company will continue exploring opportunities to divest older tonnage as planned.

However, Asyad Shipping said any such transactions are subject to market conditions. “The company will disclose to the market should any of these negotiations result in definitive agreements,” the company’s statement reads.

It added that it remains committed to a disciplined fleet renewal strategy, with proceeds from planned divestments to be utilized to support its ongoing expansion plan.

According to its website data, Asyad Shipping Company’s fleet comprises of 84 vessels, with ongoing plans to grow further across key shipping sectors.
