Oman: Asyad Shipping’s VLCC Qurayyat delivered after acquisition

Oman-based Asyad Shipping Company SAOG has reported on Monday that one of the two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) was successfully delivered on the morning of Friday July 11, 2025.

The update follows a previous market disclosure on the Muscat Stock Exchange on April 30, 2025, which outlined the purchase of two VLCCs worth a total of $206m, each with a deadweight tonnage of 308,000.

The second vessel is expected to be delivered soon, with shareholders and the market to be notified upon its arrival.

In a stock exchange filing, the company reported the total transaction value amounting to $206m, with each vessel valued at $103m.

This planned acquisition aligns with the company’s five-year business plan for fleet expansion, the company said, adding that the plan is regularly reviewed and adjusted to reflect market dynamics, enabling the company to capitalize on emerging opportunities in vessel acquisitions.

The vessel has been named Qurayyat with Asyad Shipping Company SAOG reporting that intends to proceed with the delivery of the other vessel under the aforementioned acquisition.

According to its website data, Asyad Shipping Company’s fleet comprises of 80 vessels, with ongoing plans to grow further across key shipping sectors.
