Stainless Tankers ASA will offload two of its nine stainless steel vessels, each with an approximate total carrying capacity of 20,000dwt.
The board of the company has agreed to start the sale process for Monax and Marmotas, as announced in the company’s financial results for the three months ended September 30.
The ship Monax with a 20,645-dwt was built in 2005, whilst Marmotas is a 19,998-dwt vessel also built in 2005.
The company operates a homogenous fleet of nine stainless steel IMO II chemical tankers. The year-built for the rest of the fleet, except the ships Monax and Marmotas, ranges between 2007, 2008 and 2009.
As of the end of September, the company’s fleet had a market value of $168.9m.
During the three-month period ended September 30, Stainless Tankers reported net income of $4.7m or $0.35/share.
The company’s fleet is managed by Tufton Management Limited. Tufton is an investment manager focused on the shipping and offshore industries.
