Yangzijiang Maritime to sell six MR tanker newbuilds for $308m

Singapore-listed Yangzijiang Maritime Development has recently signed sales contracts for a total of six newbuild vessels.

The vessels comprise two 49,500-dwt medium-range tankers scheduled to be delivered between 2026 and 2027 and four 49,800-dwt newbuild medium-range tankers for delivery in 2027 and 2028.

Yangzijiang Maritime said it continues its vessel monetisation strategy with an aggregate gross sales value of US$308m.

So far, the group has signed sales contracts for a total of 18 newbuild vessels with an aggregate gross value of US$805m. The sales contracts cover a 10-month period.

The group’s newbuild portfolio, including options, currently stands at 98. The newbuilding portfolio consists of 7 newbuilds that have been delivered (including one vessel delivered to its buyer under a vessel sale contract), 75 firm newbuilds under construction (12 newbuilds were resold including one vessel delivered to its buyer under a vessel sale contract), and 16 optional newbuilds.

“One of Yangzijiang Maritime’s unique value propositions lies in our ability to consistently originate attractive maritime investment opportunities, organize and build value through strategic asset ownership at favourable prices, and realize returns at opportune points in the maritime cycle,” said Ren Yuanlin, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Yangzijiang Maritime.

“Our proactive asset monetisation strategy creates a virtuous cycle of value realisation via asset sales and capital reinvestment into new vessel orders, enabling us to pursue further growth opportunities and create greater long-term value for shareholders,” he added.
