Carsten Rehder signs deal with India’s GRSE for 7th and 8th MPV ships

Advancing the idea of ‘Make in India, Make for World’, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd sealed a deal with Hamburg-based Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH & Co. KG for the construction and delivery of seventh and eighth 7,500 dwt multi-purpose vessel (MPV).

The deal signed in Hamburg, Germany between the parties on March 24 for the seventh and eighth multi-purpose export vessels.

To remind, this new signed contract is in line with the ‘option agreement’ signed between both the parties, for procurement of four additional MPVs from GRSE.

The shipyard will build a total of eight vessels at an approximate order value of 108 MUSD, as announced by GRSE.

Shipping Telegraph wrote that both parties signed a contract on December 4 for the construction and delivery of the sixth 7,500 dwt multi-purpose vessel (MPV).

Each MPV will be 120 metres long and 17 metres wide with a maximum draft of 6.75 metres. It can carry 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo.

Each vessel will have a single cargo hold to accommodate bulk, general and project cargoes and containers will be carried on hatch covers.

Furthermore, these ships have been specifically designed to carry multiple large windmill blades on deck.
