WUZ Port and Maritime Services (WUZ), Poland’s largest towage company, has taken delivery of three newbuild ASD tugs from Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards.
Damen states that on the 19th of October a flag raising ceremony for welcoming the three new ASD Tugs into the WUZ fleet took place in Gdansk, Poland, with the presence of a large group of Polish and international associates and company employees.
The first two tugs, Ares, an ASD Tug 2813, and Mars, an ASD Tug 2811, were delivered to WUZ Port and Maritime Services by Damen already in July this year, and they were built at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam.
The last tug named Pax (in Latin “peace”), an ASD Tug 2811, was built by Albwardy Damen in Sharjah, U.A.E., had its christening ceremony in Rotterdam back in September.
Damen mentions that with the delivery of Pax, WUZ Port and Maritime Services now has seven Damen tugs in its fleet that totals 17 vessels.
The homeport of WUZ is the Port of Gdansk, where the company is handling the tankers, container vessels, bulk carriers and drilling rigs that use the port, as well as undertaking deep-water and coastal towage and other support activities.
