Chinese shipbuilder Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd held a recent contract signing ceremony in Shanghai for two optional 13,000-dwt stainless steel chemical tankers with companies under the German-based DAL/Essberger Group.

This signing follows the signing last year of two 13,000 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers which further strengthened the cooperation between the two parties in the field of stainless-steel chemical tankers.

The stainless steel chemical tankers are designed by the Swedish ship design company FKAB, whilst the classification society is DNV.

The overall length of the vessel is 132 meters, the moulded breadth is 21.8 meters, the moulded depth is 11.4 meters, the design draft is 8.5 meters, and 13,000DWT at scantling draft.

The service speed is 12.5 knots, and the ships have the notation of Ice Class 1A. They are also designed to be methanol ready.

Rainbow Offshore mentions that these vessels will be built in the indoor slipway of the shipyard.
