Norwegian short-sea shipowner Wilson ASA yesterday announced the delivery of WILSON ECO I being the very first vessel in their new ECO series, and the first of 14 vessels in our extensive newbuilding program at Udupi Cochin Shipyard in India.

The WILSON ECO I is designed by Dutch company Conoship International, and the vessel is built according to the CIP3800 design, which places strong emphasis on energy efficiency, operational flexibility, and environmental performance.

The newbuild vessel is equipped with diesel-electric propulsion and prepared for wind-assisted system,so the vessel is future-proofed for upcoming innovations.

Wilson ASA states that the WILSON ECO I scores 30% below the IMO’s required EEDI for 2025, reflecting significant reductions in estimated greenhouse gas emissions per transported cargo unit.

This is an important improvement and a step in the right direction as the company work towards lower-emission maritime operations.

The ECO series includes six 3,800 DWT vessels and will be followed by eight 6,300 DWT vessels, with deliveries spanning from early 2025 through 2028 Wilson ASA mentions.
