The Swedish-based FKAB Marine Design has been chosen by a European shipowner as the ship designer for the newbuilding project of four 41.000 dwt MR tankers, which will be built at the shipyard Xiamen heavy industries in China.

The design named FKAB T67 is a Tier III product and chemical tanker (IMO II & III) vessel for worldwide operation, where special attention is taken to optimize hull lines including the patented F-bow resulting in energy savings and reduction in CO2 emissions.

The four tankers will be equipped with one medium speed engine coupled to a controllable pitch propeller and a shaft generator, with a battery pack and shore connection for supply of green electricity during port operation.

The four MR tankers will be 41,000 dwt, 199.00 m length overall, 32.20 m beam, 12.00 m scantling draft, design speed of 13 knots at 16 tons fuel consumption per day and with ice-class 1B, as FKAB Marine Design notes.
