Maran Tankers Management, the oil tanker shipping unit of the Greek-based Angelicoussis Shipping Group, has taken delivery of its fourth dual-fuel (DF) VLCC tanker named “Maran Dione”.
“Maran Dione” is a 320,500 deadweight oil tanker, built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea to Lloyd’s Register (LR) class, and flying the Greek flag.
Angelicoussis Group states that this is the last delivery of these “state-of-the-art”, as it characterises it, dual-fuel VLCCs for 2023, marking a new milestone for the company in the energy transition.
The ship Maran Dione like her sister ships, also mentioned in Shipping Telegraph articles during January and February, “Antonis I. Angelicoussis”, “Maria A. Angelicoussis” and “Maran Danae” is having up to 50% less carbon dioxide emissions than an equivalent 2008-built VLCC.
Shipping Telegraph reported in February that Maran Tankers Management took delivery of the second dual fuel VLCC, Maria A. Angelicoussis.
The vessel was delivered on 15 February 2023 by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and was named after the wife of the Group’s founder, Antonis I. Angelicoussis.
She has a cargo capacity of 320,500 deadweight and was designed to be both highly efficient and environmentally friendly.
Except the vessel Maria A. Angelicoussis, Maran Tankers Management also took delivery on 3 January 2023 of the dual fuel VLCC Antonis I. Angelicoussis, delivered by Samsung Heavy Industries, and named in honor of the founder of the Group Antonis I. Angelicoussis.
She has a cargo capacity of 320,500 deadweight, and was designed to be both highly efficient and environmentally friendly, as the company claims.
