China’s Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. clinches a deal for the construction of a 7,000 m3 LEG ethylene carrier in Ruichang City.
This is considered by the shipbuilder as a ‘significant milestone’ as it moves towards the field of gas carrier construction.
The shipbuilder has been contracted by Shenzhen Haihong Shipping Co., Ltd., a company engaged in domestic coastal inter-provincial liquid cargo ship transportation, for a 7,000 m3 ethylene carrier.
The business scope of the Shenzhen Haihong Shipping is broad. It covers, among others, the domestic coastal and middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River liquefied gas carrier transport.
The builder explains that with this agreement, signed on October 31, is officially entering into the field of gas carrier construction.
The 115-meters-long ship has been designed by MARIC, with a cargo hold area equipped with two independent single cylinder C-type tanks of 3500 m3 each, suitable for loading ethylene, ethane, propylene, propane, anhydrous ammonia, and others.
The signing ceremony was attended by He Xudong, chairman of Qinshi Group Co., Ltd., Han Xu, partner of Shanghai Yiqiao Haikong Industrial Development Co., Ltd., Wang Yi, general manager of Shenzhen Haihong Shipping, and relevant leaders of Ruichang municipal committee and government.
