Maiden China-South Africa voyage for large pulp-ship

A large multipurpose pulp ship named Green Munguba, with a deadweight tonnage of 77,000 tonnes, has been delivered to its customer in Dalian, China, on August 22.

Measuring 225 meters long, 32.26 meters wide and 14.5 meters draft (fully loaded), the vessel has been named in a ceremony announced by Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, a member of Cosco Shipping Group.

The company, which owns and operates more than 130 vessels, announced in the social media that it celebrated the naming ceremony of the vessel, mentioning that these vessels are the largest pulp vessels in the world.

With a cargo capacity of 88,600 m³ the vessel will be deployed on the shipping route connecting China and South America, according to Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers.

“Her maiden voyage will be from China to South America,” noted Cosco.

The company welcomed in its fleet its newest additions Cosco Shipping JI Xiang, Cosco Shipping Ru Yi and Green Munguba.

Having a cargo capacity of 72,000 m³, Cosco Shipping JI Xiang and Cosco Shipping Ru Yi are sister ships, 62000-dwt multipurpose pulp vessels.

As reported by Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, these newbuilding vessels are equipped with advanced temperature monitoring and alert systems, and designed with the latest in energy-saving and environmentally friendly technology, meeting NOx TIER III emission standards.
