The Chinese marine equipment producer and shipbuilder Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment (ROC) has signed multiple construction contracts with an overseas shipowner, covering a number of 5,000-tonne and 4,500-tonne large platform supply vessels (PSVs).

The company states that the finalization of this shipbuilding order not only marks that ROC’s capabilities in shipbuilding order contracting, systematic construction, and on-time delivery in the high-end offshore engineering vessel sector have been highly recognized by the mainstream international market but also demonstrates that its internationalization strategy is accelerating into deeper waters.

As the “offshore logistics lifeline” connecting offshore platforms with shore-based resources, PSVs are playing an increasingly critical role amid the global push toward deep and far-sea energy development.

Faced with more complex operating environments, the market has seen continuously rising demand for high-end PSV designs featuring large deadweight, high stability, and green, intelligent attributes.

The PSV series contracted this time is precisely ROC’s newly optimized and upgraded offering tailored for deep-sea application scenarios, with multiple performance indicators reaching industry-leading levels.

In terms of design, the bow of this vessel series is equipped with a tunnel thruster and a retractable thruster. The spacious, flush deck and large deadweight capacity complement each other, allowing flexible carriage of drilling equipment, fuel, fresh water, dry bulk materials, and special cargoes, while also featuring platform oily water recovery and transfer functions.
