Thai-based Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited (RCL) has inked a newbuilding deal for two 4,400 TEUs boxships in China.

The container operator placed a newbuilding-order for two intermediate feeder-size container vessels at a reputable shipyard in China, according to a note to the Thai Stock Exchange.

As it is reported by RCL, these orders come with competitive pricing and will be delivered between 2027 and 2028.

Those vessels are scheduled for integration into the company’s fleet and network or being considered for a potential long-term charter contract.

RCL said that it is continuously working on “strategic asset-placement, especially in a segment where the current order book is lacking.”

Earlier this year the company revealed that its subsidiary in Singapore, Regional Container Lines Pte. Ltd. (RCS), will purchase two new build 4,400 TEUs vessels. The company said on April 25 that the two container vessels are expected for delivery by November and December 2027, respectively.
