Japan-based shipbuilder Tsuneishi Shipbuilding has acquired all shares of Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. from MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd., making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
The transition took place on June 30, 2025, following the formalities associated with such acquisitions. As part of this acquisition process, Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has changed its name to Tsuneishi Solutions.
Since entering into a capital alliance in October 2021, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding and Tsuneishi Solutions have collaborated to leverage the synergies of cost competitiveness and technological expertise.
Tsuneishi recognized the necessity for deeper integration to strengthen competitiveness and drive sustained growth.
“In light of the need for further integration to ensure sustainable growth and enhanced competitiveness in the future, TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING has decided to proceed with the full acquisition,” the shipbuilder said in a statement.
Founded in 1917, Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has established itself as a company in the maritime industry, focusing on marine engines, port cranes, industrial machinery and more.
On the other hand, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding specializes in shipbuilding and repairs, and is the anchor company of the Tsuneishi Group, which conducts business mainly in the shipbuilding industry and maritime transport.
With manufacturing bases in Japan (Tsuneishi Factory, the HQ), Philippines, and China, the company builds bulk carriers, container carriers, tankers, and others.
As the maritime industry continues to evolve with rising demands for eco-friendly technologies and innovations, this acquisition could help both companies maximise their respective strengths.
