Dutch-based Thun Tankers BV, part of the Källsson family-owned and Swedish based Erik Thun Group, took on February 2 delivery of the product tanker “Thun Resource” from the shipbuilder Scheepswerf Ferus Smit BV in Leer, Germany.
As Shipping Telegraph reported on November 16, 2023, this newbuild product tanker is the first in a series of eight in the “Resource Efficient Class” being build, and upon her delivery she enters into a long-term employment with Swedish charterers Nynas AB.
The 7999-dwt Ice Class 1A tanker is 114.95m long, her beam is 15.87m, and has 9540 m3 cargo tank capacity.
It is also equipped with UPS battery pack with readiness for shore electricity connection for reducing emissions.
The newbuild tanker is technically managed by the Dutch MF Shipping Group.
