The Oman-based Asyad Shipping Company S.A.O.G has taken delivery of Manah, the first of two new-build IMO type II medium range (MR) chemical tankers from Lianyungang Shipbuilding Yard in China. Both tankers will be employed under time-charter contracts with an undisclosed “tier one client.”
As announced last year, Asyad Shipping and Lianyungang Shipbuilding Yard entered into shipbuilding agreements for the construction of two MR chemical tankers, each with a capacity of 49,100-dwt.
A naming ceremony for Manah and her sister vessel Marbat, named after historic towns in Oman, took place in China on August 6, 2026.
Asyad Shipping said that following her delivery, Manah will be employed for three years with a tier one client. Her sister tanker Marbat is expected to be delivered next month and will also be employed by a tier one client for a period of three years.
