Suezmax tanker specialist Nordic American Tankers is set to rake in a $14m profit from the disposal of two ships.
US-listed NAT said on Thursday that it has entered into firm agreements to sell a 2004 and 2005-built ship at a net price of $50m for both vessels. The move will improve, according to NAT, its cash position.
The shipowner didn’t disclose the vessels names or the buyer. The suezmax tanker pair is expected to be delivered to the buyers during January 2026.
Both vessels are debt free, NAT said, with the shipowner expecting to record a book profit from the sale of the two ships of about $14m.
Furthermore, the company is growing its fleet portfolio with two additional South Korean tankers.
The Herbjørn Hansson-led firm said that it had agreed a letter of intent (LOI) to build two suezmax tankers at a South Korean shipyard.
The company did not disclose the name of the shipyard but said that a firm agreement is expected to be signed in January 2026.
As announced earlier, the price of the ships is $86m each with the units expected for delivery in the second half of 2028.
Currently, Nordic American Tankers has in its fleet portfolio 20 suezmax tankers, with the company predicting a strong market for its ships.
