The containership CMA CGM Volga breaks a record as the largest container vessel by TEU capacity to ever visit Swanson Dock at Patrick Terminals in Melbourne.

The arrival of the 2015-built, Malta-flagged boxship CMA CGM Volga, with a capacity of 10,622 TEU, is considered a “milestone” for Patrick Terminals and the Port of Melbourne.

Patrick Terminals, Australia’s container terminal operator, said the arrival of the ship marks a milestone for Patrick Terminals and the Port of Melbourne, demonstrating the terminal’s capability to handle large vessels.

Michael Jovicic, CEO of Patrick Terminals, welcomed the CMA CGM Volga to Patrick Terminals at Swanson Dock, mentioning that: “This vessel, with its 10,622 TEU capacity, demonstrates the ability of our terminal to handle large container ships visiting Australia.

“This arrival is proof of our capability and continuing focus on operational efficiency and supply chain resilience.”

Patrick Terminals in a social media post expressed its gratitude to the Port of Melbourne, the Port Phillip Sea Pilots Pty Ltd, Ports Victoria, ANL and Svitzer Australia for their “pivotal roles”, as it said, in ensuring the safe and smooth docking of this record-breaking vessel.
