Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport is continuing to pursue its strategic fleet optimization plan, reporting the order of six new vessels from Hanwha Ocean Co., Ltd.
Yang Ming has revealed on July 16 the signing of construction projects for six units of 13,000-teu LNG dual fuel container vessels.
According to a stock exchange filing, the order covers six containerships at a price between US$185m and US$204m per unit. The total transaction price is valued between US$1.11bn and US$1.224bn.
The dates of deliveries of the units were not disclosed in the filing.
Last month, Yang Ming held a naming ceremony at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea, for the YM Wayfinder, the third vessel in its series of 15,500 teu-class LNG dual-fuel container vessels built by HD HHI.
Two sister vessels in the LNG dual-fuel series, YM Willpower and YM Worthiness, are already in service and primarily operate on LNG.
In recent years, Yang Ming has continued to modernize its fleet, with its 15,500 teu LNG dual-fuel containerships entering service in 2026.
As of June 2026, Yang Ming operates a fleet of 99 vessels with a total capacity of 8.527 million dwt and 759,000 teus, with container ships serving as the main operational force.
