Norwegian ferry company Rødne Trafikk took delivery of the new fully electric M/S Rygerlys from Oma Baatbyggeri AS on last Friday.
The new fully electric combi-catamaran vessel will operate the Lauvik–Lysebotn route under Rødne’s 10-year contract with Rogaland County’s public transport company, Kolumbus AS.
The 46.3-metre aluminium combi-catamaran combines high efficiency, operational flexibility and sustainable transport. With a beam of 11 metres and a service speed of 19 knots, the vessel can carry up to 97 passengers and 12 cars, or a combination of cars, trucks and cargo.
M/S Rygerlys has been designed for a high level of passenger comfort and is equipped with a modern, fully electric propulsion system which enables emission-free operation throughout the route and marks an important step towards more sustainable maritime public transport.
