The Swedish ferry operator Eckerö Linjen, trading between Eckerö in Sweden and the Åland Islands, has reached on November 25 a historic milestone, by welcoming the millionth guest of the year on board their ferry M/S Eckerö.
Eckerö Linjen states that it is the first time that over one million passengers have travelled with the ferry in one and the same calendar year, and the milestone event took place during the 08:00 hours departure from Eckerö on Saturday morning, where Sanna Holopainen became the lucky millionth guest when she boarded M/S Eckerö.
In order to celebrate this moment, Sanna was surprised upon boarding with flowers, champagne, a banner specially made for the day and a gift card presented by the ship’s master, Johan Bertell, technical director, Mikael Henriksson, and superintendent, Ros-Marie Sandström.
Furthermore, everyone on board got the opportunity to join in and celebrate the event, with Eckerö Linjen offering all guests on board a glass of bubbly and locally produced apple cider from Granna’s apple, and it was a festive atmosphere on board, as the company notes.
Maria Hellman-Aarnio, marketing director at Eckerö Linjen, said: “To reach over a million guests in one year is very fun and we are extremely grateful to everyone who chooses to travel with us.”
