Greek owner Almi Marine Management has further strengthened its fleet portfolio, announcing an agreement with COSCO Zhoushan for the construction of three ultramax newbuildings with a capacity of 64,000-dwt each.

According to a social media post by the company’s managing director, Christos Hadjigeorgiou, the company has contracted a further three ultramax newbuildings for delivery in 2030.

“The vessels will feature the highest environmental and operational specifications,” Mr Hadjigeorgiou explained, and “will further strengthen Almi Marine’s position in the market.”

The fresh deal follows Almi’s agreement with NACKS shipyard for the construction of two ultramax bulk carriers with a capacity of 64,000-dwt each.

Managing director Hadjigeorgiou confirmed at the time that the company had signed the agreement on Valentine’s Day, in February, with the delivery time horizon of the ships placed in the second quarter of 2029.

The owner already has close ties with Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd in China, taking three ultramaxes in 2024.

Almi Marine Management S.A. is a manager/operator of supramax and ultramax dry bulk ships.

Currently, the company has under management a fleet of three supramax and three 64,000-dwt ultramax vessels with a total deadweight of 365,140 MT.
