John Su Erasmus Shipinvest Group expands liner business

Zhongyi (John) Su-led Erasmus Shipinvest Group has just taken delivery of a newbuilding from Imabari in Japan, expanding its liner-related business division Erasmus Lines.

The Athens-based shipping group said that exactly two years after the sale and delivery of its Japanese 37k handysize bulk carrier Ocean Echo, it welcomed its “new” Ocean Echo, the first-ever tween/MPP newbuilding.

The vessel was launched and named on January 17 at one of the “top-tier,” Erasmus said, shipyard partners of its group Higaki Zosen of Imabari in Japan.

“To face the fast-moving geopolitically-impacted trades model and the increasing trend of de-globalization, Erasmus Lines will rise up as a dedicated liner-related business division of Erasmus Shipinvest Group, including owning, management and operating roles with sizable feeder containerships fleet as well as general cargo and multipurpose vessels,” the company stated in a post on LinkedIn.
