Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited, the Hong Kong-listed shipowner, announced that it has ordered a pair of 40,000 dwt bulk carriers at Namura Shipbuilding in Japan.
Delivery of the ordered vessels is expected for August-October 2025 and the total price for the two bulk carriers is USD 66,96 million, as Seacon says.
The acquisition of the vessels under the sale and purchase contracts is in line with the ongoing strategy of the Group to optimize its vessel fleet by gradually phasing out its older controlled vessels, replacing them with newer vessels, and expanding its controlled vessel fleet.
Furthermore, the company states that the vessels are more fuel-efficient and of higher operational efficiency than the other bulk carriers of the Group currently in operation, which meets the latest environmental regulations and prevailing specification requirements in the shipping industry.
