Godby Shipping unveils charter to DFDS as ‘roro rates strong’

Finland’s shipping firm Godby Shipping Ab, based in Mariehamn in Åland, has unveiled that the 1999-built Ro-Ro ship Mistral was chartered to the Spanish roro operator Suardiaz Shipping Lines from January until June 2024, with options.

The privately owned company said the intention was that Mistral would trade in Suardiaz new service between Vigo, Spain and Liverpool, UK.

According to Godby Shipping, this however did not turn out as expected and Mistal was on relet to Spanish Peregar from February until June and thereafter continuing directly with Peregar until September.

The company highlighted that the trade is Algeciras-TangerMed.

Directly after redelivery from Peregar, that is in beginning of October, the ship will go on time charter to DFDS minimum until December 2024.

The shipping firm said that the roro market is presently ‘very strong with good rates’, and that it anticipates to develop its co-operation with DFDS.
