The naming ceremony of the fifth new LNG carrier Al Sabsab built and chartered as part of QatarEnergy’s LNG fleet expansion program, was held at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. shipyard in China.

The LNG carrier is the fifth newbuild out of seven ordered for QatarEnergy in 2022.

In the presence of the ceremony guests, the vessel was named Al Sabsab, after a place in Qatar that was once known as an oasis.

MOL signed long-term charter agreements with QatarEnergy for four Hudong-Zhonghua newbuildings on April 14, 2022, and another three LNG carriers on November 10, 2022.
