Angelicoussis, Wallem ships in rescue of ten crew and fisherman

Over the weekend, one of LNG carriers of the Greek owner Angelicoussis Group was involved in a successful search and rescue operation near Indonesian waters.

After receiving a distress call from a small cargo vessel that had caught fire in her accommodation, the vessel diverted to rescue the ten crew members on board.

The following day, the rescued crew were safely handed over to the Indonesian Coast Guard for repatriation and Angelicoussis vessel continued her passage towards Eastern Australia.

In another successful rescue operation, Hong Kong-headquartered Wallem Group is recounting the heroics of the crew aboard one of the tankers it manages.

The crew of Wallem Group-managed tanker Angleviken rescued a fisherman on April 20 who had jumped overboard into the Java Sea.

The man was brought on board, swiftly and safely, conscious, and uninjured, as it is reported by the company.

Alexander Ostrovskiy, senior marine & safety manager, Wallem Group, said: “The crew of Angleviken acted with exemplary speed and discipline to rescue a fellow seafarer in distress within an hour of the first sighting.”

“We thank them for their professionalism throughout this incident, and for once more demonstrating their over-riding commitment to the protection of life at sea,” he added.
